Woke up to find Diane not well at all; she had been sick and had the 'trots', with a raging temperature to boot. So, when Ali arrived for our tour, the first thing was to go to the local chemist for medicine and, having taken that, made sure Diane was tucked up in bed, hopefully to get better quickly. So, my mission was to take loads of pictures to record the day ahead. The morning part was a visit to the Tiger Leaping Gorge. This is one of the deepest gorges in the world at 3900 metres and having walked down to the raging river, then back up again, I can verify the depth! Bizarrely, there are no tigers in the region; the naming of the gorge dates back to folklore, where it is said a giant tiger leapt across the Jinsha River using a massive rock nestling in the middle of the river, that had been dislodged during an avalanche.

We then went to a lovely Tibetan Buddhist lamasery, Zhiyun Temple, that had a fantastic golden roof and, incredibly, some rather saucy frescos in the main temple - the latter to remind the monks that if they thought of desires of the flesh, then they could see them and thus be at peace with themselves.

Back to the hotel and thankful Diane was up and much better; later we went to local restaurant where we were the only Westerners (to the amusement, we think, of the staff) but enjoyed some excellent noodles and service.
