We board this sleek train set for Xian. The carriage we have is like a Business Class cabin on an aeroplane with even more extra leg room. Seats fold down into a full bed and it's difficult not to fall asleep as they are so comfortable. Departs on time - no surprise as to date we have found everything in China is efficient, clean, slick and stress free (even when you can't speak the language). It is not before too long that we are rocketing down the track at 300km per hour (186mph) - wow! Strangely, it doesn't feel that fast when you're inside the train. If commuting into London could only be this good. The scenery is fairly consistent throughout the journey; mainly agriculture broken up by vast numbers of high rise properties, all cuddled together like families of meercats.
We arrived on time at Xian and were swiftly met by a porter to deal with the luggage - thank goodness. Thereafter, a longish drive to be delivered to our hotel, the Hilton, to rest ready for tomorrow's visit to see the Terracotta Army and explore this ancient city.

Have just caught up on your adventures. Certainly bring back some great memories esp Jaipur observatory the road trip Pokhara to Kathmandu
Shame Victoria peak in HK wasn’t too much fun I used to walk around the top quite regular.... never saw a fish being sliced up and left alive though. Yikes
