One of Diane's dreams now turned into reality - to sit and have a picture taken where Lady Diana did all those years ago. Early to rise for a sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal and it's so well worth it. The mausoleum looks so captivating and alluring in the morning and it seemed that we were the only ones there. Again, our guide was doing his David Bailey impersonation and helped to capture some lovely shots as the sun was rising.

Next stop Jaipur; a long journey but again a chance to look at the real world of India. From roadside cake ovens made out of cow dung to a young boy squating on the pavement doing a number two! The journey itself involved a stop at a decent restaurant where Diane was eyeballed by the ageing laveratory attendant(!), a lorry going the wrong way down our stretch of the road; pigs, camels, dogs, buffalo and monkeys avoiding traffic as they waltzed into the path of vehicles and, when in Jaipur itself, the maddest and most manic traffic yet. Incrediably we have only seen one crash and it was today - the car was badly damaged, but the guy on the bicyle it hit just sufferred a knock to his shin.

Enroute we stop at the less known Fatehpur Sikri, the deserted ancient capital of Emperor Akbar. This quite substantial and well preserved city was abandoned only 12 years after being built due to lack of water. The visit was very interesting; it included making an offering at the tomb of Salim Chishti and making 3 wishes - apparently death by horrible ways if we let on what those wishes were!

Staying at Jai Mahal Palace the ex home of the head of parliament, and we treated ourselves to a lovely (but pretty firm) massage.
