A quick trip to the seaside after leaving Adelaide; just 30 minutes and we are in Glenelg. It's a really nice place, with a fantastic beach, a jetty and a good number of restaurants. The sun is shining and there is even an oriental couple having wedding pictures taken on the sand. Diane and I wonder if they have followed us from Japan! We take lunch at Sammy's on the Beach, that overlooks the pretty harbour. We tuck into a platter of oysters, whitebait, squid and king prawn - absolutely yummy. Diane has a couple of glasses of wine and is in heaven; I try to enjoy my sparkling water! And it's a small world - the waiter has an English accent and we find out he's from Shropshire, where Diane's family originated from. But enough of the small talk, as we have to get going to our next destination, Robe. It's a good drive of 4+ hours, but the scenery is interesting and pretty varied. We get to Robe and our campsite Sea Vu Robe. A quick change and a stroll into town for a bite to eat. We find a great place called Sails; lovely staff who looked after us well. We have a great meal and bottle of wine, then a quick dash over to the Caledonian Inn where there is very inviting fireplace and roaring flames to stand in front of, given the evening was a bit chilly. We sip a drop of local beer before retiring for the night.

The next day was Anzec Day and very early in the morning we heard some hymns that were being sung at a ceremony in the town at the memorial. We stroll around the town, then head further out to the old gaol and obelisk, both of which are on a headland. The town has quite a history, given it was a major port 150 years ago, and they have managed to retain a number of the original buildings from when the town came into being.

Now we are off on the road again, heading for Port Fairy and the start of the Great Ocean Road.
