Another nice day so, after breakfast, we decide to get to our next destination as soon as possible to enjoy the sunshine. Our destination is Tweed Coast Holiday Park, Fingal Head. We still decide to take the scenic coast route and the scenery is stunning all the way northwards. Fingal Head is a long thin stretch of land that has water either side and when we arrive at the camp site, we see that the property sits right next to an amazing white sandy beach. We decide upon our plot and promptly get out our deck chairs and walk the 60 seconds to the beach. The wonderful sands appear to go on forever along the coast line and we pretty much have the place to ourselves. We plonk ourselves down, crack open a couple of beers and just soak up the warm rays. The mesmerising crash of the waves sends us both into another world and only the rumbling of our tummies reminds us that we probably need to have some food. So Keith wonders off to the motorhome and knocks up lamb chops and mashed potato, whilst Diane uses the laundry room to wash some of our clothes. With the sun now dropping into the ocean, we decide to wonder down the road to find the local (and only) bar, that the lady on reception used to work at and said there would be a band playing that night. We arrive to see the band setting up - we had no idea what genre of music they would be playing. The place was like something out of a 1960's hippy/freelove/LSD/Woodstock film; but we thought, what the heck, took a table near the stage and got a bottle of wine to enjoy the evening. We even had one of their pizza's (which was really good). The band played a sort of white reggie, but they had a girl saxophone player who gave the music a different dimension. It was all pretty good - by the end, a number of the attendees were up dancing, including a certain Mrs Dixon! Afterwards, we chatted to a couple of the group and the bass player only had studied at Cambridge! Small world. We turned down the offer of going back with them to some sort of party (30 years ago, we would have said yes, of course) and, with the moon peering through the clouds, went back to our new mobile home having had a great unplanned evening, that are always the best, of course!
