Woke up to another cold day, but we didn't mind. Had a nice breakfast before exploring more of this Unesco listed lovely town. We wondered a little 'off piste' but were rewarded with a delightful walk in the wooded area above the town and even came across a small temple which appeared to suggest the Dalai Lama had visited, yet this structure was really off the beaten track and had no visible signposts to it. Then to have a lovely lunch at The Alice, where we had the best Hida steak ever! Absolutely fantastic! After a tour of the Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine and another wonder around the maze of wonderful streets, we headed back for our 'in room' evening meal. We are encouraged to dress accordingly in our Yukata (which is like a Kimono) and we have our traditional meal, that is actually really good, although I think Diane is not that keen on sashmi. Then, another really good night's sleep on our floor beds beckons.
