On the way to Lakes Entrance, we saw a sign to Agnes Waterfall, so thought it might be worth a look. Up into the hills, we reached our destination, that was a very small gravelled car park and a toilet, but little else. We heard the sound of water and found the river hidden in the trees, so followed its course until we saw a very nice waterfall, as waterfalls go. It was really quite lovely, just us two, with the sun glinting through the branches, the birds chirping away and the crystal clear water cascading over the rocks. Our next stop was even more remote; we stopped off at Port Albert for a coffee, but the sole cafe was not open. Instead, we tried to locate the Old Port Walking trail, but just ended up down a gravel road next to a lake that was bordered by marshes. So we made our own coffee and watched the black swans on the lake. We could have been at Benfleet Creek........Next stop is Sale and stroll into the town centre for lunch. We try the Redd Catt. From the outside, it did not look much, but inside it was very busy but we find a table. The lunch was excellent as well as the service. Finally, we get to Lakes Entrance and driving down from the hill into the town, the view of the sand and waterways was really impressive. We find our park, Sliver Sands, that is a pretty small park but had everything we needed. It was also almost empty so it felt like we had it all to ourselves. However, just as we arrived, the heavens opened and we thought we would just get an early night and hope the weather is better the next day.
