Sanctuary at the Cove

Another treat for us, before we get to Brisbane. There is an Intercontinental at Sanctuary Cove, Hope Island, that is advertised as a relaxing resort hotel which has its own beach and fronts an attractive marina. So we decide to have a night there. The drive into Sanctuary Cove is pretty amazing; you sort of feel as if you are entering a private estate. The roads are all brick lined and golf courses abound. The houses are all set in wonderful tree lined locations, with the grass and foliage absolutely manicured. We get many strange looks from passers-by as we enter this 'sanctuary' in our motorhome. We park up and check in. The hotel is really lovely. And it does have a man made beach with a sea water lake within the grounds. We decide to have a dip in the water (well, Diane takes the plunge, not Keith), but it's a bit nippy, so we both do a few laps in the other pool, that is heated. We then hear about the Australian Ferrari Club lunch and the cars parked outside, so we venture out and see a host of wonderful Ferraris parked up, mostly red in colour, as you would expect. The annual boat show is setting up in the Marina, so we take a stroll to witness a fine collection of very expensive boats moored, either to be sold or just there to show off, pehaps. Just before sunset, we walk through the hotel grounds, seeing wallabies lazing in the sun and then we head off to the hotel lounge for a glass of wine and some snacks, before retiring to our sumptuous room, to consider our journey into Brisbane City, where we will be swapping our motorhome for a different model.
