The day starts off lovely; so we take the chairs onto the empty beach and sit for a while looking at the crystal clear water that cascades onto the golden sand. Very mesmorising and relaxing. But we have to get our backsides into gear to have a further wonder around the town. We take the same coastal path and find that there is a market set up on the green. It is very pleasant; there is a guy with a guitar playing some folk tunes, the stalls are selling a variety of wares and the whole thing looks well supported by the locals. We buy a couple of bottles of wine from the nearby winery (which was really good as we found that evening when we tasted them!) and some root ginger, primarily to grate for ginger tea. At the sea front is a rock pool and we saw a guy swimming in it. When he got out, he said the temperature was about 18 degrees, so chilly but refreshing. He said he swam in the pool every day and it did look very inviting; but we did not have our swimwear with us and we thought skinnydipping would be frowned upon. So, we left Pete the Painter and ventured around the bay.
After stopping for a coffee and a piece of cake, we found a courtyard that had a hairdresser, with a spare chair. Keith's hair was beginning to look like the actor out of Back to the Future, so it was time to get it sorted. About half an hour later and looking 20 years younger (just like the film), Keith found Diane examining a Thai massage shop that was next to the hairdressers. So, we decide on a hour each. The massage shop advertising said it did a traditional Thai massage - and it was right! The massurers must have put our limbs in positions we did not know existed and we are sure they even walked on us at one stage. So, relaxing, it was not, but did we feel good afterwards? Yes!
That evening, we booked into reputedly the best restuarant in town, Silica, where we had, to date, the best oysters so far. They were called Sydney Rock Oysters and were served with chorizo, shallot and sherry vinegar. Absolutely yummy. The rest of the food was good as well, but the oysters were stand-out.
