Off on the Omarama-Lindis Pass Road to Mount Cook and our next park, Glentanner. The journey is quite long and the weather has turned, with there now being a freezing mist that has turned a number of trees into Christmas ones, shining white with silky threads of frozen water. There is an eiree feel as we drive towards the mountain range and we see the snow capped peak of Mount Cook come into range. It's pretty impressive. We reach the caravan park and are able to park the motorhome in full view of Mount Cook. We could have sat for hours, just admiring the view, but dinner had to come first. The kitchen was quite busy but it was very sociable talking to the different nationalities, swapping stories and suggestions. There was also a fire burner and Keith managed to get a good fire going that took away the chill of the dining area.
The next day we drove the one way route as close as we could to the main event. At the mountain range, the were various walks we could do and we decided to go to the Blue Lake (which was green) and then on to the Tasman Glacier Lake. In this lake there were some icebergs, albeit The Titanic would have not been worried about these ones.
We then drove along route 8 to Geraldine, which was really just an overnight stop on our way to Akaroa. We stay at the Top 10 Park and we are pretty much the only ones there. We use the kitchen to cook a chilli con carne and take the opportunity to do some clothes washing as well. The joys of motorhoming!
