Hindsight is undoubtedly a wonderful thing, as we subsequently found out following our long journey down the Yorke Peninsula. It takes about 90 minutes just to get to the start of the Peninsula, then we hit the Coastal Way road. This sort of hugs the east side of the Peninsula, that resembles Italy in shape, but that's where the resemblance ends. The terrain is very flat and reminds us of our UK countryside of the Fens. The roads are generally incredibly long and straight; even the Romans I think would be amazed. We pass through very small villages that all look the same and are pretty uninteresting. But we do need to have a break, so we choose to stop at Port Vincent. This turns out to be a good choice; the beach is sandy, the town has a store for us to get a few bits and pieces and we find a great fish and chip shop, that cooked to order. We eat our battered butterfish and huge portion of chips outside overlooking the sea, with the sun warming us nicely. Then down to Marion Bay, where our campsite is. This place is at the heel of the Peninsula and has a lovely windswept beach fringed with grass, akin to those on the Norfolk coastline. Our overnight stay is fine and the next day we go to the Innes National Park. We could be on the Cornish or Devonshire coastline now; rugged cliffs with the wind now getting stronger. We take an interesting hour's walk that takes in the local history, including how gypsum was mined and the subsequent collapse of the industry, leaving a ghost village.
Then it's back to Adelaide - which takes us just shy of 5 hours. On the way we do see a kangeroo and an emu that nearly tried to run out in front of us. But we do see a lot of road kill, mainly smaller kangaroos. Eventually we get back to Adelaide and back to Levi Park, where we see a Koala in a tree next to the park reception. Tomorrow off to the coast and to take the Southern Ocean Drive.

Glad you having such an amazing time X
