You Must Be Taking the Pelican

We are at Lakes Entrance, that is the gateway to 90 Mile Beach. The view along the spit with the golden sand lining the waterway is quite something. The town itself is pleasant and we walk the length of the promonade, that is mainly made up of places to eat or drink on one side and sailing vessels of all descriptions on the other. It is sunny, but has a chilly breeze, so we decide to stop off and have lunch on one of the boats (The Ferryman) moored in the marina that serves mainly fish dishes. Keith had an absolutely enormous grilled snapper and Diane had a white fish in a lemon sauce. Both were lovely. As was the bottle of white wine and sitting on deck in the warm sun and with rather full bellies, it was only a matter of time for us to fall asleep. One hopes that we did not cause too much amusement for the staff. We continued our stroll and in a quiet part of the bay, practically stumbled into a pelican parade. The birds seemed to look at us with the same amusement that I guess the staff at the Ferryman might have done earlier. But they (the birds that is, not the staff) allowed us to take a few photos before deciding to launch themselves into the water.

Night was now drawing in, so back to our 'home', but Diane fancies a movie night so we go into a video shop. Yes, they still exist in Australia and we hire 2 films; Bohemian Rhapsody and The Favourite. Our supper is cheese on toast and a glass of port. I did not put money on that happening when we booked!
